The Alzheimer Society of Ottawa and Renfrew County can provide you with free, individual support to help you in your journey as a caregiver or a person with dementia.
How does it work?
It’s as easy as a phone call, an email or a drop-in visit. Ask to speak to one of our knowledgeable and experienced staff who will take the time to answer your questions. You can talk things over, describe what’s happening in your world, and they will help you get the help you need.
The staff will stay in touch with you to see how you’re doing. They can provide you with information about the community supports that are available, and how to access them. If you wish, they will even make direct referrals on your behalf.
“By the time we were finished talking, I wanted to hug my counsellor,” says one dementia caregiver. “She was so patient and kind, and had the answers to all my questions. And she invited me to contact her again anytime I needed more help. I had such a sense of relief afterwards, having got the help I needed for my Dad and my family.”
One on one support services are available in both English and French.
